The famous Jaguar E-Type Series 1 first appeared at the Geneva Auto Show in 1961 and immediately became a catching-eye car. Enzo Ferrari considered that it was “the most beautiful car ever built” and the New York Museum of Contemporary Art has permanently included it in its exhibits – one of only six cars that have received this award. Naturally, whenever examples of this rare model are available for sale, the demand is high like the above model “Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8-Liter Roadster” which is available at an auction organized by RM Sotheby’s.
It has been fully restored by company expert Dave Ferguson in 2013, who has used spare parts from the original.
In addition to the larger front disc brakes, the new manual transmission, the new wheels, retain most of the original spare parts, such as the headlight covers, the windshield, and the tank. Its starting price is not known but it is expected to be quite high.
