Very few people know that working animals are vital to the lives of millions of people in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America. Even fewer know that these animals are suffering from mistreatment or being slaughtered for their hides which could endanger the donkeys in Kenya by 2023.
Since 1934, the Brooke organization has been improving the lives of vulnerable working animals and the communities that depend on them.
The Brooke organization works hard to provide meaningful and lasting change through partnerships with owners, communities and policy makers, even in some of the most difficult areas of the world.
For 600 million people in some of the poorest parts of the world, 100 million horses and donkeys are the backbone of communities and the means for a better way of life. Without healthy working horses, donkeys and mules, they would not be able to put food on their tables, send their children to school or make a better future for themselves and their families.
