He is one of the most successful water sports athletes in Greece with many distinctions, even though he is only 25. Nikola Plytas’s involvement with water skiing began at the age of 5, at the Vouliagmeni Nautical Club. At the age of 7, he tested his strength in his first race and four years later, he won 2nd place in Europe in the under-14 category. Today, eleven years later, he has won many distinctions in Panhellenic, Pan-European, and World events, mainly in water skiing. , but also wakeboarding, skateboarding, snowboarding, and surfing, representing for two consecutive years (2018 – 2019) our country at the ISA World Surfing Games in Japan.
He considers that for the needs of the championship he has not sacrificed personal moments, as every time he enters the water, it is a new experience for him. He loves the sea and feels complete in it. He enjoys swimming and trying other sports, such as surfing and wakeboarding.
A reference point in his career was the moment when his life was in danger in Portugal. Having been there to enjoy the surfing experience, he did not correctly calculate the high wave height. When it came time to “pick up” the wave and surf, the waves passed over him, thus being underwater for a long time. Although he was quite scared, he was not discouraged and the next day came back to the sea more focused and he succeeded.
