On 26 April 1986, in the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine, state of then Soviet Union, a major explosion released radioactive material across Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, reaching up to Scandinavia and Western Europe. The tragic event represents the mini-series of five episodes of HBO and Sky, which dramatizes the story of the nuclear accident, one of the worst disasters in history – and the sacrifices made to save Europe from an inconceivable disaster.

Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgård and Emily Watson starred in the series. The script is Craig Mazin’s and directed by Johan Renck (Breaking Bad).
